Modern building and insulating materials are a "game changer" when it comes to constructing a solid replacement roof over your existing conservatory.

Due to the technological advancement in producing lightweight components it is now possible to improve your old inefficient conservatory roof, with it's noisy polycarbonate roof sheets, that makes your conservatory too hot in the summer, and too cold in the winter!

    Oxford orangery ready for Christmas

Our conservatory project manager Simon ensured that this lovely orangery extension was completed in time for the young family to enjoy it over Christmas. The lantern roofed orangery has full-height walls rendered with K-Rend cream render to match the house. The orangery’s windows and doors are elegant aluminium units – powder-coated in white for a long lasting finish. As part of our build, we re-positioned the existing veranda and adjusted its height. We think you’ll agree th

    Conservatory with integrated veranda

Here’s a conservatory in Steventon that’s nearing completion. We’re just waiting for the floor screed to dry before we install underfloor heating. The aluminium bi-fold doors have a low threshold – once the floor tiles are laid, the floor of the conservatory will sit flush with the door threshold. The REAL Aluminium doors and the roof bars are finished in Anthracite Grey (RAL 7016). The self-cleaning glass roof projects a metre beyond the doors to form a veranda. The full hei

    Fire Exit Door

We recently installed these aluminium fire exit doors to a commercial building in Osney. These are external fire exit doors – not to be confused with internal fire doors that are rated to withstand fire for a given period. Fire exit doors are designed to provide an easy means of emergency escape. Push the panic bar and the spring-loaded shootbolts are released, allowing the door to be pushed open. We will make sure that the correct type of door is fitted to suit your applicat

It is the combination of quality products, keen pricing and superior results that keep our customers coming back to us again and again. Visit our website to find out

New windows fitted at the Museum of Modern Art Oxford

Modern Art Oxford is internationally recognised as one of the UK’s leading centres of contemporary art. Perhaps better known as the Museum of Modern Art, its galleries are housed in the old Hanley Brewery building at 30 Pembroke Street, Oxford. Admiral Windows Oxford has installed these gorgeous new Exlabesa aluminium windows to the historic building – on time and to budget. We are most grateful to Matt Cannon, the manager of Marks & Spencer’s Oxford branch, for allowing us a

    Alluring Aluminium

Because aluminium is such a strong material, aluminium window frames can be made slimmer than is possible with uPVC. The above picture of two ovolo-profile frame samples shows this difference clearly. The cream coloured uPVC frame on the right is decidedly chunkier than the white aluminium frame on the left. As well as being a leading local installer of uPVC windows, Admiral Windows Oxford offers a choice in aluminium framed windows, with various profiles available in the ful

About the double glazed window industry

Although the first double glazed units were experimented with in the 1950s, it was not until the early 1980s that the double glazing industry really took off. Until that time, window frames had been manufactured in steel (e.g. Crittall windows) and / or timber. Companies such as Stormseal, Anglian Windows, Everest, Zenith and Staybrite emerged as national suppliers of aluminium windows and doors fitted with insulating sealed glass units. The late 1980s and early 1990s saw the

How to tell whether your windows are internally glazed or externally glazed

Beading strips are used to secure the double-glazed or triple-glazed unit. Internal beading: When the beading strips are situated internally, this means that the glass unit is secured in place from inside the room. The glass simply cannot be removed from the outside without breaking it. Windows supplied and fitted by Admiral Windows Oxford are internally beaded as standard. Through the round window

No, you won’t find Big Ted or Little Ted. Nor will you find Hamble (who went missing following a traumatic incident with a knitting needle). We’re all grown up now and, through the round aluminium framed window, we see a rainy afternoon in Summertown. Installed by Admiral Windows of Oxford, the double-glazed fixed window features attractive astragal bars. #aluminium #windows
